Review
Loki S1 surprised me in many ways and set itself apart from the other Disney+ Marvel TV Shows by, among other things, its scope. It made perfect sense that it was the first series to get a second season, the trailer looked great but not the series is here.
Picking up right where it left off is kind of smart, it’s seamless – I haven’t re-watched S1 but it really feels like I just watched the finale last week. The head writer and director changed and I couldn’t tell, as for the episode it’s engaging to the point that I thought the end credits were the intro theme. The episode is all about the direct effect of what Sylvie just did, things are crumbling, Loki is in a bit of a pickle, and for a moment we don’t quite know where to start.
I love how they expertly used the time-slipping elements of the episode with clever details that enhanced the viewing experience for eagle-eyed fans. Even though the episode is mostly set up for the season with one little problem to solve now, the attention to detail, the production, and the acting really pulled you in. However, I would say that maybe a two-episode premiere might have been needed, because if you were on the fence about season two I’m not sure that the set-up here is strong enough to sell you on the whole season.
