Review

As long as it has been since the first season, I had little to no trouble remembering it. However, that opening scene immediately intrigued me, even if that version of events clued me to what was happening since that particular trope is in the zeitgeist with superhero shows and movies. What I like about how this trope was introduced and handled, is the subtlety and bit size pieces with which they introduced their version of that concept. The rules were obvious and consistent unlike what Marvel and DC are doing right now.

The trope is very focused on one character thus making it more streamlined and easier to understand. We’re only in the inception of that trope in this premiere but it was well done. That opening scene also gives so much weight to Mark’s decision in season one because that specific glint was chilling. What happened to Eve was simply just cold and f’d up but the very fact that it was a skill developed for that purpose is wild.

As the aftermath of last season’s finale, this episode hits all the right notes while still managing to set up a few storylines for the season. The voice cast is excellent as always and really brought it. There are layers in their performances that give the proper depth of emotions.

Season two is off to a great start, I can’t wait to see more.

Rating: 8 out of 10.
