As religiously as I’ve watched all the episodes of Invincible, I seem to struggle to review the seasons. Last season I forgot and this time around I almost did. What’s different this year? The season feels faster and more intense than the last. If you thought Invincible couldn’t get any more intense, Season 3 just proved you wrong. This season doesn’t just push the story forward, it hurls it at full speed. Mark is stronger, faster, and now dealing with a superhero wannabe kid brother, Oliver. The stakes are higher, the fights are bloodier, and the emotional weight is heavier than ever.

From the very first episode, the season sets up a compelling moral debate: Do the ends justify the means? Cecil, always playing the long game, takes morally questionable actions for the sake of Earth’s survival. Mark, on the other hand, still clings to the idea of right and wrong but as the season progresses, we start to see his more of own hypocrisies surface. When he turns a blind eye to Oliver killing the Maulers, it’s clear that Mark isn’t the same idealistic kid from Season 1.

The storytelling this season is chef’s kiss. The show takes small, seemingly minor characters and turns them into emotional powerhouses. When it comes to action, the violence is exactly what you’d expect (and then some). The Invincible War was an absolute bloodbath, Steven Yeun killed it (no pun intended) voicing all those different versions of Mark. And if that wasn’t enough, – Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s – Conquest’s arrival took things to a whole new level of terror. That finale? One of the most brutal things I’ve ever seen in animation.

But beyond the carnage, Invincible Season 3 excels at exploring its characters. Cecil’s backstory adds depth to his ruthless decisions, making him both terrifying and strangely sympathetic. Aaron Paul as Powerplex? Absolute standout. And Eve and Mark’s rooftop conversations? A perfect emotional anchor amidst all the chaos.
With foreshadowing of some huge upcoming events and an ending that left me shook, Season 3 solidifies Invincible as one of the best superhero shows out there. Bring on Season 4.
