Based on the beloved fantasy series by Edgar Rice Burroughs, John Carter of Mars is inspired by the story of A Princess of Mars in Burroughs’ Barsoom series. John Carter stars Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Willem Dafoe, Mark Strong, Dominic West & Ciaran Hinds.

Premise: Transported to Barsoom, a Civil War vet discovers a barren planet seemingly inhabited by 12-foot tall barbarians. Finding himself prisoner of these creatures, he escapes, only to encounter Woola and a princess in desperate need of a savior.

Review: Since the very first time I saw it, John Carter of Mars has been one of my go to movies that I watch at least once a year. Until very recently I didn’t understand why there still wasn’t a sequel because the film is packed with great actors, an interesting story and beautiful sets and imagery.

As weird as the premise might sound, the movie is awesome, the story is compelling. It sucks you in and takes you in this incredible adventure. John Carter is a well put together mix of movie genres, it has this classic old-timey feel to it with a bit of western
while still being quite the futuristic sci-fi thrill of a movie. It’s an incredible Sci-Fi movie and it gets even better once you realize how long the books have been around.
John Carter of Mars was imaginative and great movie experience for me but what did you think?
