Inspired by Caroline Kepnes’ novels “You,” which respectively inspired season one and season two, is a psychological thriller television series lead developed by Sera Gamble and Greg Berlanti and lead by Penn Badgley.

Premise: A dangerously charming, intensely obsessive young man goes to extreme measures to insert himself into the lives of those he is transfixed by.

Review: I remember the first teaser trailer for this show, I was mildly interested but I didn’t rush to watch it. When I started watching the first season, I got sucked in. I loved the show but I was too invested too into it that I was constantly afraid for and of Joe. So half way through I took a breather lol. Before season two started I told myself that I was going to finish it but didn’t. Now that I’ve seen the last five hours of season one I’m floored. It was such an amazing roller-coaster.
As heightened as the show is, there is no doubt in my mind that this could be real people. I’ll not talking about Joe, because people like him are hopefully rare. I mean if you put aside the murdering and dial down the stalking, we all know a Joe. His behavior is exaggerated but Penn Badgley does an excellent job of humanizing him. You see the crazy and delusions and don’t question any of it. I wasn’t rooting for him :D, just waiting to see what happened and hoping he’d restrained himself.

I love Beck, she’s is a complex, real, and a complicated person to me, I have friends like her, who behave in a similar way. Kudos to the writers and the cast because, I didn’t once feel like they were making excuses for Joe, or blamed Beck, they toed that line very well. Both characters were operating with the information they were given, making the season somehow predictable in parts but very entertaining. The last few scenes got very interesting though such a good cliffhanger.
