TV Review: The Watch (Premiere) | A Farscape Throwback with A Doctor Who Vibe

Review: I am yet to read the books so I’m just getting a feel for the characters in this two episode premiere. They’re all different and potentially interesting. This distant secondhand dimension has a lot of elements going for it. The most surprising thing though is the aesthetic, and tone of the show. Not that I solely expected something akin to Good Omen but I got a Doctor Who vibe from the special effects and visual effects in the pilot . It also reminded me of Farscape – a late 90s early 2000s TV series that I vaguely remember – in fact the show kind of looks like it was made at that time.

It will take some getting used to but if the story is gripping, I might ride this out to the end or give a three episode effort. So far The Watch is ok, looks a bit like it skews pre-teen, teen or Whovians.

Rating: 6 out of 10.
